SATISFACTION GUARANTEE: Thank you for supporting our small family farm! We are committed to your satisfaction. We guarantee that your dahlia tubers will be true to the variety you purchased and arrive with a healthy tuber body and at least one visible eye. All of the tubers that we sell were grown on our farm. We take great care in their storage by putting them in a temperature and humidity controlled environment. Please open your shipment and inspect the tubers as soon as they arrive, and contact support@jivanafarm.com within in one week of their arrival if you have any concerns. If it is determined that something is not as promised, we will provide a replacement or refund. Once your tubers arrive to you, you accept full responsibility for them. We cannot be responsible for negligence, improper storage, rot, poor growing conditions, inclimate weather, or pest damage.

PLEASE BE KIND: It’s unfortunate, but sometimes in the passion of the hunt for the most desirable dahlias humans lose their cool and forget to be polite when something doesn’t go their way. We take our responsibility as growers and business owners very seriously and are making every effort to make each customer’s experience as positive as possible. Please let us know your concerns! We just ask that you do this in a positive way. We will address your concern and try make it right if we screw up. Please keep in mind when you find yourself upset that if you choose abusive or threatening language we reserve the right to handle your complaint by cancelling your order and refunding your money.

NEWSLETTER SUBSCRIBERS: Newsletter subscribers will be the first to know about tuber sale dates, times, varieties, and all other important details. If you would like to receive these updates, you can sign up for our newsletter at the bottom of our homepage. Please also make sure that info@jivanafarm.com is one of your preferred senders. Otherwise, our emails may end up in your spam folder.

SHIPPING: We can only ship within the USA and all orders will be shipped using USPS Priority Mail. Tubers will ship in April once freezing temperatures are clear of the forecast. The cost of shipping is as follows.

1-2 tubers: $12.00

3-15 tubers: $17.00

16-40 tubers: $23.00

40+ tubers: $45.00

You will receive an email with tracking information as soon as a shipping label has been created for your order.

COMBINED SHIPPING: We offer combined shipping for multiple orders. To be eligible the orders must have the same shipping address at the time that they were placed. We’ll do our best to catch multiple orders from the same address, but you can help us by sending us an email at support@jivanafarm.com with a heads up. Shipping costs will be adjusted and refunded based on the shipping costs above.

LOCAL PICKUP: We welcome your visit! To pick up your order at our farm (and avoid the shipping costs), please choose the local pick up option when checking out. Farm pick-up in Mossyrock, WA will ONLY be available during the first and second Saturdays of April from 9AM to 12PM. We will include our address in your order confirmation. If you have not picked up your order by the second Saturday of April, we’ll ship them to you and charge your card per the shipping costs listed above.

CART: Tuber sales can be insane and the demand for specialty tubers can cause some tubers to be sold out within seconds. AN ITEM IS NOT RESERVED JUST BECAUSE IT IS IN YOUR CART. Your order is only secure once you checkout and receive an order confirmation number. Having spent the last few years collecting our favorite varieties, we know how frustrating and disappointing this can be. Creating an account and a wishlist will help!

LIMITS PER HOUSEHOLD: In order to help spread the beauty of the most sought after varieties, we are limiting the purchase of some tubers to 1 or 2 per household address, not per person. It will be clearly labeled in BOLD in the dahlia’s description if there is a household limitation. You may receive an error message when trying to check out, which will delay the confirmation of your order. Please honor this policy. We reserve the right to cancel an order (and refund your money) if this policy is not honored.

PAYMENT: We accept most major credit cards, Apple Pay, and Shop Pay in the hopes of making your experience as easy as possible. Some tips for a smooth check out experience:

  • Make sure your credit card information is saved on your device. This usually allows your card details to be auto filled at checkout.
  • Shop Pay can be a quick option, but you may also be prompted to enter a code at checkout which you will receive via SMS, thus delaying your checkout.
  • In our experience, Apple Pay seems to provide the quickest checkout on a mobile device.

CANCELLATIONS: Once an order is placed it is final. We unfortunately cannot accept cancellations or changes to an order after it is placed.

UNEXPECTED ACCIDENTS & MISLABELS: We take great care to accurately label all varieties as we harvest and process our tubers. We also protect our tubers from the freezing temperatures, rot, and pests once they are in winter storage…but sometimes things happen in spite of our best efforts. If something prevents us from fulfilling your order between the time you purchase your tubers and the time they ship, we will provide a full refund and our deepest apologies. If you carefully label your tubers and later discover that we sent you the wrong variety, please send us pictures and a copy of your original order to support@jivanafarm.com and if it is determined that something is not as promised, we will provide a replacement or refund. Please know we are doing everything in our power to prevent this from ever happening.

VIRUS POLICIES: From the planting of our first tuber, we have taken dahlia virus seriously and have taken as many steps as we can to ensure virus does not spread among our plants. We are painfully relentless in culling any dahlia plants that show even a hint of virus, and we also spot test throughout the season. We adhere to strict sanitization protocols, use a variety of organic interventions to limit the number of pests, and have chosen not to open our fields to u-cut in the hopes of preventing the spread of viruses.

That being said, as the American Dahlia Society will tell you, a high percentage of dahlias carry virus (a 2023 study showed more than 80%) and can be asymptomatic. Some viruses are not detected by testing, and testing can be too costly to do en masse. By purchasing, all buyers accept the fact that virus is not 100% avoidable in spite of our best efforts and we do not provide refunds for virus. Please also remember that the virus you experience may have spread in your own garden and unless a plant has been officially tested, there might be many factors that contribute to virus-like symptoms in your plants.

To avoid the spread of virus, you can do a few things:

  • Take steps to reduce the infestation of insects, as their bite from plant to plant can contribute to the spread of virus. We use beneficial insects from Arbico Organics to control the harmful ones.
  • ALWAYS disinfect your snips between plants when deadheading, harvesting, or dividing tubers. We use a simple 1/10 ratio of bleach water.
  • Immediately remove and destroy any plant, including its tubers, if you suspect virus. We know this can be heartbreaking, but it’s necessary.
  • To learn more about viruses and the best practices for avoiding the spread, check out a fantastic comprehensive guide to dahlia diseases and viruses that Jessica Gulizia put together over on the Flowering Farmhouse website or explore these resources from the American Dahlia Society.

LIMITS OF LIABILITY: As mentioned above, once seven days have passed from the date of your delivery or your tuber is already in the ground, Jīvana Farm cannot be held responsible for any issues with your plant. While we will do our best to make your experience as positive as possible, we are not required to issue a refund and are not liable for any monetary value beyond what you paid for the tubers in question.
